Allergy Sciences in India

An allergy test is an exam performed by a trained allergy specialist to determine if your body has an allergic reaction to a known substance. The exam can be in the form of a blood test, a skin test, or an elimination diet.

Allergy shots, also called allergy “immunotherapy”, are reserved for patients with severe allergies to pollens, pet dander, dust mites, or molds. Allergy shots are the most natural treatment for allergy sufferers since they are made with actual plant pollen, pet dander, etc. We prepare a unique allergy shot prescription for each patient. The patient then receives injections with increasing concentrations of pollen’s, dander, etc. Over the course of weeks and months, allergy shots “reprogram” the immune system to be less allergic. We ask patients to wait in our office for 30 minutes after their allergy shots (we have free WiFi), just in case there is a shot-related reaction.

Why is Allergy Treatment Preferred in India?

An allergy starts when your immune system mistakes a normally harmless substance for a dangerous invader. The immune system then produces antibodies that remain on the alert for that particular allergen. When you’re exposed to the allergen again, these antibodies can release a number of immune system chemicals, such as histamine, that cause allergy symptoms.

Allergy symptoms depend on the substance involved and can involve the airways, sinuses and nasal passages, skin, and digestive system. Allergic reactions can range from mild to severe. In some severe cases, allergies can trigger a life-threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis.
